Week 8, 9, 10, and 11 with Baby Liam

I was talking to Mr.L the other day about Liam. I told him how much I love our son and all the hopes and dreams I have for him. While we were talking, a thought came to my mind: I am the person who knows Liam best. It is true! No one else in the whole wide world know my son as well as I do because nobody else spend as much time loving him, taking care of him, and thinking about him as I do. In the beginning when he was a new baby, I didn't know what he wanted and what his cries meant. He was like a stranger from heaven. But after spending hours and hours holding him in my arms, rocking him to sleep, feeding him, comforting him, playing with him, going on walks with him, and watching him learn and grow, I got to know him so much better. I now know what he loves, what calms him down, what makes him smile, how to get him to fall asleep, and what his cries mean. I can tell from his tongue movement what is bothering him. I can tell from his body language and facial expressions if he's happy or angry. He is my joy and my pride. When I look at him, I have no other feeling but love. I just want to love him with all my heart.

A couple of weeks ago, we went for his 2 month check up. He weighed about 13.7 pounds and measured at 24.5 inches long. The doctor said he was in the 96 percentile for his weight and 92 for his length/height. Well, I guess he is bigger than almost all of the other babies his age. It's amazing that in just two months, my little bambino outgrew a third of his clothes and is wearing a size 2 diaper now. I feel sad for all of the clothes that he didn't even get to wear!! But I am happy that he is a healthy baby. He has almost no spit-ups. Maybe that's why he is such a fatty.

We also went and got his shots. Poor baby. He got three shots on his thighs. One of the vaccines was given through his mouth. I think it was the Rotavirus one. He was happily swallowing the sweet fluid and smiling at the nurse. He had no idea what was waiting for him. The nurse stuck him really quickly though. Boom, boom, boom. It was over before he let out his heart-wrenching cry. I picked him up immediately and rocked him. He stopped crying and whimpered just a little. Luckily, he did not get a fever after the shots.

He loves to smile and "talk." He loves making noises when he's playing. He coos all the time. He is fairly good at entertaining himself. Sometimes I'd leave him on his swing or crib or playmat and he'd just stay there "talking" to himself or to me and look around him and eat his hands. I can usually leave him there for about 20 minutes before he gets bored and wants my attention. Morning time is usually happy time. He's alert, curious, and happy. I usually take him out for a walk after his nap in the afternoon. I love bundling him up, put him in the baby carrier, and wear him on my chest when we leave the house. The walk around the Provo temple everyday keeps me cheerful. I love to have him nestled on my chest. It makes me feel like I am pregnant again. He likes to look around when we're out and about. Usually he falls asleep hanging on to me. I think the motion and being so close to me makes him feel safe.

Anyways, we had an amazing time celebrating Thanksgiving at Mr.L's uncle's. It is always so fun to see his cousins and listening to them talk. Kids talk about the funniest things! It was Liam's first time seeing everybody. I am not sure what he felt but I think he had a good time there being held by Aunt Deanne and listening to all the laughing and crying of his dad's cousins. I am grateful for extended families and for the love they that they showed us. I am so grateful to be a mother to a sweet baby. I am grateful for his health and his sweetness. I am grateful I get to kiss him all over every single day. I love him so much and I am grateful he is mine.

My little cutie pie is growing up so fast and these are some pictures I took of him with my phone in the past couple of weeks.
