The day I turned 28!

Since my birthday fell on the Saturday of the Thanksgiving week, I celebrated it in Denver, with so many of my favorite people. It was a day jam-packed with activities. But, oh, it was a wonderful, wonderful day!

We went sledding in Estes Park, which was about 2 hours away from Denver. I only went down the little slope once because I wasn't and never will be a fan of speed and slope. But it was still really fun to watch Liam sledding down the hill with his papa. I don't know if he enjoyed it or not because he didn't smile or laugh, he just looked...unsure. He liked playing in the snow but he didn't understand why he couldn't touch the snow with his bare hands (he kept trying to take off his gloves).

When we got home from sledding, we got ready to go out to dinner at a really cool Italia buffet place. Italian buffet?? I had never been to one or even heard of it  before! What can they possibly be serving at the buffet line? Just a variety of pizza and pasta? I obviously don't know very much about Italian food (except for Olive Garden. I have their menu memorized!). This buffet restaurant is fantastic! It was a lot bigger than I had imagined, the interior decor was pretty, there was SO MUCH food to eat, and the best thing is, NO WAITING! Just grab a plate and start filling it with 5 different types of pastas, fried zucchini, eggplant parmesan, fried fish and calamari, 8 slices of pizzas (all different flavors), and head back to your table when your food starts spilling out of your plate. I need to master the art of buffet, I tell you. I always just get one plate and fill my plate up as much as I can. But I had seen people with 3 plates full of food. How the heck do they do that? That's skill!

Oh, did I mention gelato? The eat-as-much-as-you-want-and-then-come-back-a-few-more-times gelato? I LOVE gelato. Ice cream is okay, but gelato is THE BEST OF THE BEST, even better than frozen custard! Unfortunately, I didn't eat as much gelato as I had wanted to {I still had 2 scoops!}. Dang pasta! I simply couldn't shove any more food down my throat.

After dropping off Liam back at our aunt's {free babysitting, yo!}, we went to downtown Denver to do some fun stuff just the two of us. Fun stuff being going shopping! hahaha... After three stores and less than an hour we were done. We were too tired to shop. We got some frozen yogurt (Denver is VERY expensive!) to go, got back in the car, and headed home. Before we got on the freeway heading towards our aunt's home, out of the corner of my eyes, I saw some bright colors/lights. We headed towards that direction and saw the most amazing thing: the Denver city and county building was lit so beautifully with its Christmas lights. I had never seen anything quite like it!

I had an awesome, awesome birthday and I couldn't have asked for a better one! I am so grateful for my amazing in-laws for the delicious birthday dinner!! Also, thank you Denver for the most unforgettable birthday!
